Jet air ride system trouble shooting and repair
User Album - Owner: Flanders - 7 items
I knew when we bought Helga that her a$$ was sagging.  It wasn't her fault that her PO wasn't into upkeep and repair.  I bought a 12 ton pneumatic/hydraulic bottle jack and a pair of 6 ton stands and got underneath to figure things out.  Turns out the fuse to the compressor was blown and at least two (of the six) electric/pneumatic solenoids were bad as well.  Air springs had likely not been inflated for quite a while.  I have had the pleasure of driving it from the storage lot to my house several times and no stereo could drown out the noises made by this butt dragging behemoth.  Also found that both shocks were bad - likely due to being fully compressed and taking a constant beating.  I cobbled together enough working solenoids to function in manual mode and "viola" her butt is up where it should be now.  I got to drive it back to the storage lot last night in smooth silky comfort for the first time since purchasing it on Jan 3.  I have several new solenoids on their way along with three new drain petcocks.
