Hello all,

I bought a dually wheel valve stem kit for my 1976 Brave, 26 footer.  The kit instructions and 2 techs I've talked to indicate that the valve stems need to be 180 degrees from one antother on each dually wheel set in order to not throw off my wheel balance.  Problem is, my Brave's duallys have the valve stems in the same place on the inside and outside duallys.  And, I can't just take the lug nuts off and rotate the outsdie wheels 180 and then retighten because there is this hole in the outside rims and pin on the inside rims and they need to "marry up".  Anybody out there faced this one?  What should I do?  Thanks, Jeff in San Diego

usually when you turn the wheels back to back it sets the pin and hole together and offsets the valves 180 degrees. if not, i see no reason not to drill a hole in the rim for the guide pin.z

If you are speaking of the flex hose valve extenders which enable one to check the inside tire pressure more easily, beware! Those deals can lead to more problems than anyone needs. They only need to loosen sightly to cause air leakage and we all know what can happen to an under inflated tire with a load. It gets hot, then.......keplewie! This can also be followed by the tread separating and whipping the undercarriage, skirting, holding tanks and anything else you don't want destroyed beaten to a pulp!

While I never had any on my Winnie, the coach I replaced it with had them. Out of the four rear tires at least one was low everytime I checked until I removed the extenders. The tech columuns in Motorhome Magazine have also reported problems associated with these gadgets.
