My Minnie has a dipstick that plugs in,it has a number on it 4030647.Is this for temp or level? Know where I can get a new one?

This is most likely a engine heater For keeping engine warm for very cold winter starting . A must for diesels ! Frank

I'm sorry I didn't type in that I am talking about the transmission dipstick,my bad!

Transmission oil level indicator.  On a Class A chassis, indicator is in center console of dash.  Not sure where it is on the van chassis.  I will have to go look at what it says on the indicator about how to use it.

Class A RV sensor panel:

Transmission oil Level monitor (right half of panel) Preconditions:  Engine at idle, transmission in Neutral, oil temp greater or equal to 130 degrees. If fluid level is low, the light will light.
You can still monitor the level manually as there are still fluid level marks on the dipstick.

Older units have the "TRANS" light on the left side of the instrument cluster, below the oil pressure and fuel level gauges.  Same function, lights if the transmission level is low.  Rick

Mine is a van chassis and it has the light in the middle of the dash under the ac controls. Thanks everybody I just wasn't sure if this was for level or temp. The light is on all the time,I think i'll look for a regular van dipstick and tube!

Hi Rusty,
In April I bought a NOS electronic transmission disptick for my 440 off eBay for $25. He had the one you need, but I checked with him and it was sold.  So, they are out there, just not very frequently.

If the light stays on, perhaps a wire is shorted. Or, the dipstick could be bad, but I doubt it.  One of my wires was broken just as they came out of the handle, but until I got this replacement, I just kept it unplugged and used it like a regular dipstick - like Dave said, it has marks on for visual reference too.

I know this may sound elementary, but before getting too far into this you might check to make sure the transmission pan is stock, the fluid level reads right on the existing dipstick (manually), there is no obstruction on the sensing tip, and the wiring is solid.

Even if the pan is not stock the fluid will still have to be at the same level to reach the filter. You would just need more fluid.

With filter extensions (common with deep Mopar pans), (Admin edit:) that is incorrect.
The intent of my providing things for you to check was so you could better diagnose what your issue might be. In fact, with a non-stock transmission pan, there are things that *might* impact your setup, depending on all manner of things.  It's just one more thing to be aware of.

It was relevant but I am not here to argue. Ignore me if you like, I will say no more on this.
