Sent: 7/7/2005 4:18 PM Hey guys, Before I run down to Napa to get a new water pump and fan clutch, anyone have the Napa parts numbers handy so I don't have to wait for some poor kid getting paid 7 bucks an hour to attempt to cross reference the Chrysler numbers with thier own system? I have a 413 engine, 1971.  The water pump is the one with the grease fitting.  I'm going to go ahead and replace the fan clutch too while I have the radiator out getting recored.  Someone mentioned a "heavy duty" fan clutch.  Anyone have the part number for it? Thanks! Kev

Sorry I dont have the part numbers.   Any new fan clutch will probably work better than the old one.  I was able to replace my original one, that was viscous drive only, with one having the viscous drive and the thermostatic function too.  It cost about $90!  Be very carefull that you get the same diameter to fit the end of the water pump shaft.   I had a hard time finding a fan clutch that had the same inside diameter as the end of the water pump.   I dimly recall I needed 9/16ths, when the parts I found at first had a 5/8th inside diameter.    I had the same problem with the water pump.   I think someone had posted the water pump part number on this site, within the last 12 to 18 months too.

Sent: 7/7/2005 9:04 PM Thanks Dave!  I'll bring the old one in with me to measure it up.  I was hoping you would have the parts numbers, or tell me it was the same as a 440....lol. Kev

Mine (413) was not the same as the 440 pumps, of which there are several part numbers. Some of those have 4 bolt mounts, some have 5 bolts, some have 5/8ths shafts, but with a 3/4 inch boss on the end. And one of those that didnt have the right shaft diameter even had the grease fitting on it. I wound up putting new bearings into my old pump, and putting it back on the vehicle. So when you find the proper replacement, be sure to post the number - so I can get a new/rebuilt pump!

Thanks everyone for your kind replies! I found the fan clutch for 40 bucks, and the water pump for 109 bucks.  I called a local parts dealer, gave them the Dodge numbers, and they cross-referenced them for me and had the parts the next day. I'll post the numbers when I get them, but my wife, who picked up the parts today while shopping with her daughter-in-law, left them in the back of her van...lol.

It seems that no one around here can do my brakes.  The RV dealers all say they won't work on anything older than 10 years old for "liability" reasons, and none of the local shops are equipt to work on big RVs.  Farther out there are two truck places that would do them, but would have to keep our rig for a few days at least...and we are living in it! Its a dilemma.   For now, I'm going to go through and replace the cooling system components, and recore the radiator.  I'll address the brakes when we get to Georgia in a few mont

While we're at it, could we add the P/Ns for the 318 & 440 water pump and fan clutch here (I know a lot of our 440 clutches are pretty weak)?

I did find an aluminum bodied up-grade clutch and fan for the 440 from Summit, but they run about $90!

OK guys!  The part numbers ended up being from Car Quest, as that is the vendor the local parts store uses.  They are:

Fan clutch:  77230 HTR

Water pump:  51-1537 NWP (old p/n=940)

These were exact replacements, and fit PERFECTLY!

Your welcome
BTW - It's real easy to get NAPA P/N's if you have the Dodge P/N.  Just got to
http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/NAPAonline/homepage.d2w/report
and enter the DodgeP/N in the "Non-NAPA Part No" field on the left side of the page.

Thanks to all,
Anti-freeze under the 1973 Brave. Spent hour and a half reading the post on Classic Winnebagos which I followed step by step. Spent hour and a half flushing engine and taking the nose cone of water pump out. Two hours getting parts at NAPA (stop for coffee and readed the paper). Two hours putting it all back together new hoses, belts and clamps. Fresh paint on parts of motor and clean up motor area. All works great... "priceless". That's why I will continue to support the group.

Thanks Gil in Los Angeles.

The numbers for the 413 water pump listed aren't any good. I found this http://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/TWRASCWP248_0282614677# but it might not be available anymore. When I get a chance I will call NAPA.
