Plastic repair and screw track covers

Greetings new member, just picked up a 78/79 Dodge Coachmen Comet with a 440 engine. I am looking for some advice on how to to repair and patch the plastic trim on the front end of the rig. Also were do I find the plastic strip that slides in those screw tracks?

That's a standard 1" vinyl insert available at any RV parts store.

Wow, I think of the years of rain that has gotten in there. W% That is plastic, not fiberglass so the the only proper way of repairing it is replacement. That said you will probably never find a replacement part so I would suggest sanding what is there and gluing the broken pieces back in line with each other and then using epoxy resin and fiberglass go over the whole area. Get a book on fiberglass boat repair for a guide. My only concern would be the adhesion with the plastic but I think if you sand it to give it some "tooth" then use epoxy resin and not polyester it should work. I would put a layer of glass on the inside and fill in the hole with fairing compound while glassing in the rest of the area.

You can get the vinyl insert material in 3/4, 5/8, and 1/2" width on the web too. For your windows and such.
