When I bought the MH the gauge was dead, however, I made sure that the alternator was good. The alternator voltage shows 13.9 at idle on my multimeter, but the voltage gauge in the dash does not show anything.

Does this mean I will need to replace that gauge or is there anything else I could check before replacing the voltage gauge?

Thanks!

Make sure you have voltage coming to the positive side of the gauge and that the negative side of the gauge is properly grounded. If this is a factory GM dash with the ribbon connector be sure all the ribbons are clean and look closely at all of the traces on the back of the dash for any burnt spots.

The number one thing that will fix most of any issues with these old machines is cleaning the contacts and making sure you have a good contact.

My oil pressure gauge has recently started going on mine.

When I bought it, I wondered why the last owner installed a second oil gauge under the dash on mine, as it read the exact same as the one in the dash.

Well, after about 6 months, the one in the dash started flailing around wildly when driving, then I knew.

If you want to stay factory, these are still avail, I got a temp gauge, works perfectly..

Thanks for the source for the gauge!
