I have a 89 Winnebago Cheiftain. Its on the Chevy P30. I am wanting to replace the fuel lines and I am having problem finding the 1/2 inch fuel hose that goes from the sending unit to regulator on the frame. The manual shows its  GM part # 15530401 however it has been discoutinued.

Does anyone know of a replacement?

Unless it's a molded line, or has special connectors any auto parts store carries high pressure fuel line by the foot.

Actually there is an aftermarket replacement for this - I just bought one 2 weeks ago from my local "real" auto parts store - they had one hanging with all the fuel parts out in the customer area.

If you can wait until this evening, I can get you the manufacturer name and part number when I get home. (I have been saving all the packages for parts so I can compile a master list).

Also, if you intend on replacing the regulator, be very careful removing the brass adaptor fitting that this hose threads into - it is M16-1.5 metric flare female to 3/8 NPT male and you *cannot* find one anywhere. Trust me. You will need to reuse it. I changed my regulator because it is cheap enough and I'm doing the entire fuel line system front to back.

I would appreciate the manufacturer name and part number. I also plan to replace the regulator. What regulator did you use? Did you replace the  in tank fuel pump also?

We just bought this RV and it has been sitting since 08. We are planning to drive it to Alaska next summer so I am going through all the major systems.

Thanks

The high-pressure fuel line from the sender to the fuel regulator is FMSI part number 4351. Catalog can be found here: http://www.fmsiinc.com/pdf/2010-fmsi-flyer-series-a.pdf  (Page 12)

I didn't find these on Amazon or eBay, but like I said, my local (non-big-box) auto parts store had one hanging on the shelf. I would check around and see who can order you one.

And if you can't find one anywhere, I do have another option for a custom made one with hose and fittings. Just let me know and we could work something out.

Yeah - exact same thing here, except I leave for Alaska in 76 days and I'm still taking things apart.

Wow still taking things apart!! I am sure you will get it back together. Like you I am starting at one end and going through everything.  I read your blog about your trip this summer. Great information. It really got us thinking about the money required. We love going to Alaska however this will be our road trip there.

So, I went ahead and ordered the hose, thanks for the rec!!

When you call FMSI they'll have to place you in contact with one of their US distributors in order to have it shipped. They hooked me up with Bob over at Muffler Shop Plus out of Pennsylvania. He's a really nice and helpful guy who's ordering me the part then sending it over. He's thinking less than a 2 week turn around.

Anyways, figured I'd share.

I believe it was about $15 and then another $11 for shipping.

Just a heads up on this in case you need this hose. The Part# 4351 was too short so instead I had to order FMSI Part#4356

Rickf1985

You are not talking about high pressure here, I am assuming you need this hose due to need the threaded ends. If it was too short I would have cut it somewhere accessible and added a section of fuel injection hose in between with barbed fittings and clamps. This way you could make it whatever length you need. The pump pressure in a non injected vehicle is only 10-15 lbs.

well hell... should have said something before I ordered it.. Live and learn I guess  D:oH!

Interesting. It was the exact correct length on my tank.

By the way, I have extras of both male and female ends that fit the GM M16-1.5 fuel fittings. If anyone needs some you can PM me.

You didn't say anything before you ordered the longer one.

Right... What I meant was I should have said something.

I will confirm that mufflershopplus.com does still sell this part, and its $27.39 for the part plus $12.51 shipping, so it's going to be a great deal! This is compared to the $68.00 the local tubes and hoses custom shop wanted. The custom shop was even going to re-use the female end of the fitting! but then figure tax in there and you are looking at $75.00

Thanks for the tip, but I see the 4356 is a a different product with different loose fittings included, take a look. I ordered the 4351, and can confirm its the correct part. I also measured the old hose, and it's 14.5" from fittings end to end. The 4350 is 10", and the 4351 is a 16"
