I noticed the floor was wet in my 72 Brave today. Water was coming from the underside of the water heater in to a cabinet. All the fittings looked dry and I could not find where the water was coming from other than seeing it seeping out from underneath the tank. The water heater is only about 3 years old so it was a little upsetting. As a last resort I tore the thing out. To find the leak I removed the styro-insulatio and plugged the outlet and connected a hose to the inlet After doing all this I found the leak. The drain plug had a crack in it and was leaking not to the outside of the RV but rather to the inside through an opening to the tank. Just thought I would share as things are not always as they appear. Check your drain plugs!

Whew!  At least it was only the drain plug, a cheap and easy fix.  Glad you figured it out quickly enough to avoid water damage.

Water heater is back in with a new drain plug and all sealed up. Fired it up and it made some nice hot water with no leaks!
