hi guys,
i asked on another topic but i thought i would start a new thread. can the rims on a 73 winnie be changed to 16" rims? i have disk breaks on the front and as i understand it there is no other rim that will fit. backspacing from the caliper is the problem. has anyone overcome this problem? on the other post some members say they have found a tire size that fits the old 8r17.5 rim. if this is true can you post the tire size and who makes it. i was also wondering about the idea if i could use a spacer to overcome the backspacing issue? it doesn't have to be a big spacer but i was wondering what you guys thought of the idea.
thanks for any help.

Hey Sal,
If price is no problem, you could do like one of our members in the great Northwest and buy some 19.5 wheels.  Take them to a machine shop and have the centers cut out of both wheels and welded back together so the 19.5's bolt right on.  Now if you have to ask the price you probably will keep running 17.5's like me.  I really think there are other wheels out there that will work in 16" but I haven't run across them yet,  Les

We're running Yokohama Y785's on our 17.5" rims.  Check tirerack.com.
