Okay...we're hooked!  We wanna know more about your HO Generator, Froggy!!!

Looks like you are working out the bugs...and you are now getting 13mpg with your Winnie?

Inquiring minds want to know!

There is a LOT of room under the front grill area of our rig to accomidate a good size HO Generator.  How many liters does yours produce to make a worthwhile difference with your engine?  Does it run okay, or are there any roughness issues...I know hydrogen is a lot more explosive than gasoline...do you get any pinging or anything?

I read your profile and you have a Class C, with the same chassis as us, a Chevy P30...but with a Chevy 350 motor.

We would probably need more liters produced per minute for a 454 to make a difference.

What pitfalls did you run into?  I read your picture posts and you mentioned high amp draw and alternator and fuse issues.  Please elaborate!

Where did you get the plans, did you make it all yourself, and what other recommendations do you have for someone considering it?  How much did your system cost total, including all the mods like the alternator you had to make?  That way we can consider cost effectiveness.

What was your mileage before installing the system?

I did a Google search and researched a little like you suggested, but would really like advice from someone that has installed one on a classic Winnie!

Thanks!

S---- Lost 45 min of post due to to large of attachment  Hate that this system does not warn of such mistakes it just erases everything and you have to start over.  The system i am building is the Hotsabi Booster  There are cheaper and probably better systems All the files i have  are over the 192 MB allowed  They are Hotsabi Booster , Smack Booster  ,1/2 water 1/2 gas . Your battery is a hydrogen producer if you could trap escaping gas & install a flame trap  same thing.  There are cautions about corroded valves & exaust systems unless they are stainless steel, Cost so far has been large (have not kept track)  But who has time to worry about such things Ha ha. Somewhere in all my info they stated that the system was not about quantity of gas (making too much and results suffer) I do not know how to post the files i have (they are all to large)   But i think if you goggle the names above you will get what i have   Frank

Here are the two sites I had time to read so far...very very cool, and not expensive to make if it isn't all smoke and mirrors!  The theory is sound, and it makes sense:

If I have time someday, I might make a Smack Booster and see how it works!

Hey Kev i was going to build the smack but got side tracked into hotsabi due to time i had before trip to TX I think the smack will make more ho and its not that much harder (just takes more time) Which I did not have  But after further research 1/2 water 1/2 gas seems even better yet and is much simpler than either Smack or Hotsabi Goggle  1/2 water 1/2 gas  I  purchased the 2 books so I have all the info I think i will start over and try this one Frank    Neat idea Chuck this looks promising

check out this,  http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/product/flow-rite-remote-battery-fill-systems/4592 with a few mods. and all the batteries hooked up you would have plenty HO

Good idea, but my coach battery bank is 3 12 volt gel cells in series...only the starting battery is a traditional battery with removable caps.  You can't remove the caps on the gel cells, and I don't think the one battery would produce all that much hydrogen...lol!

Very good idea though for anyone who has a traditional battery bank...but I'm not so sure that even 4 traditional batteries would produce all that much hydrogen gas...if you think about it, electrolysis is the separation of water molecules into oxygen and hydrogen...therefore you lose water level over time.  That is why you have to keep topping off the HO generators about once a week, because they produce about 1.2 liters of hydrogen/oxygen gas per minute.  How often do we ever have to top off our batteries on our vehicles, provided they aren't being overcharged?  Once a month...a few times a year?  And when we top them off, it is usually only a very small amount of distilled water that is being added.  Which would lead me to believe that the batteries don't produce a heck of a lot of hydrogen...some...but not nearly what an HO generator would produce.

On submarines the battery bank is HUGE...and the hydrogen produced that we had to pump out into the ocean was only a bare fraction of the hydrogen we had to dump out to sea when we used electrolysis to make oxygen for the boat.

What do you mean by 1/2 water, 1/2 gas?  You mean heavy electolysis to produce a mixture of half HO to mix with half gasoline vapor in the combustion chamber?

Hi Kev Actually they have changed the name to Water4gas There system is basically the same as Hotsabi/Smack but simpler Look it up  at Google   water4 gas  i  have just started to look at it seems easier than the others & you do not have to use lye it uses baking soda   Gets rid of caustic mixture which causes stains everywhere it gets splashed  they use vacuum to pull gas into engine or a pump to push it in (must be very low pressure) also container is glass not pvc pipe Frank

Hmmmmmmmm...The Smack generator sounds a little better to me, and its a lot cheaper to implement.  Baking soda isn't a catalyst like the caustics and might leave either residue or other side effects the caustics won't.  I'll have to do more research!

Well i have finally gotten everything back together with a new 100 Amp alternator new battery good belts and everything else that failed. The center electrode that i designed with the steelwool was too effective and drew to much amperage (melted fuse holder with 40 amp fuse)  Now to try 2ND modification With washers Hm? Frank
