What are those big, black numbers on the front and back of my rig?

I am hoping to restore my 72 brave to near original exterior condition. including numbers and stripes. I have noiced hat some of the 72 have numbers on the front. Is this the number in the Vin number or where does this number come from?

If you are talking about large, black numbers that are above the front windshields, they are membership numbers for the Winnebago International Travelers Club.  There should also be a square decal next to it.  It may be cracked, faded and illegible or, it may have already been removed.  This same number and decal is typically also located on the back of your rig as well.
