I need a right side later model stainless exhaust manifold. Mine is warped so bad it will not seal. Had it off and cleaned it well, new gasket, removed the emissions garbage. Same cylinder is leaking but now even worse! I am desperate, trip in two weeks.
Sorry, 89 454 engine.

Can a machine shop true it up like they do on cast iron?

Rickf1985

Yes OR&R it is and I am sure a machine shop could do it but I have no shops near me and any shops now are swamped with race stuff, you know, the stuff that pays BIG money.

One I will have available is still on the coach. The A.I.R. tubes are rotted out and I bought another in perfect condition to replace it. It depends when I can get the old one off before I can work a deal with it Rick.
You did say you didnt need smog plumbing right?

Smog is gone. I even eliminated the tube in the ports. I need to hit the shower and bed, I will check in in the morning. It will be on my phone so if I answer it will be short and sweet.

I am going to pull it off again today and try to plane it down to flat on a steel plate with emory cloth. If that one section is too bad I may weld it up a bit and the grind it flat. That cylinder had apparently leaked for a long time and was etched out pretty bad. I am guessing it may have warped the tube itself in which case there is nothing I can do but fry to compensate. A machine shop is going to cost me as much as a set of Banks headers!

Those aluminum gaskets are good. I've got some on a set of headers in my wifes blown small block Blazer. Leak free.

I have a set in ct. Just don't know when I can get a chance to ship it.

Well, I got it sealed for the time being. Not sure how long it will last though. I ended up pulling it off again today and welded a bead around the port with a MIG welder and ground, filed and finessed it for four hours until it was as close as it was going to get. I had to add 1/4" at the lowest spots top and bottom of the rear port. This thing had leaked for a LONG time apparently. The flange was warped as mentioned but so was the tube and the weld between the tube and flange was cracked. I did not do anything with that since it does not seem to be leaking there and I did not want to induce more weird bends into it. Plus I do not have any multipurpose stainless wire for welding stainless to cold rolled steel. It actually looks like they used regular stainless wire. The weld is brittle and instead of a normal crack it shattered.
I would be interested in those that you have depending on price. I do not see this one lasting all that long.
