Interesting source for Generator muffler!

where do u guys buy your mufflers for your generators?? i have a kohler 4cm21 and kohler says they dont carry them anymore for that model. i caller a winny dealer and they wanted $100. should i just put a car muffler on it (cost $20) or is there somewhere i can buy the right one?? thkx 4 the advice.

I used a muffler from a Chevy Vega... the stock muffler.  It is a small diameter tube, and fits right in.  You can put a 90-degree pipe on the exhaust end to direct the exhaust out the back.  It quiets down the genset enough so that it is "Campground Acceptable".
