Conversion to LPG fuel. Is it worth it?

Hello everyone
I have renewed myself on here and i think the start date is incorrect but thats not what i want to talk about.
Is it economical to convert the 440 to run on both petrol and LPG as its less than half the price than petrol over here. Gas (petrol) is nearly £5 a gallon which in american money is a lot of money ($7.50). But to convert i have been told its nearly £1500 squid

So here's the question. Figure out how many dollars per mile you get now on gas. Figure out how many dollars per gallon you get on propane. Divide the miles per dollar on propane by the dollars it will cost to convert, decide how much you use your rig and then ask your self if it's worth it. Canada isn't to far behind you on the gas thing at $4.00 a gallon. The logic here is "well it cost $7.50 a gallon in Europe" Dah! But if ya asked them if the Europeans jumped of the London Bridge  would you? Well Nooooooo. It's a money grab that they can get away with and the government gets a big cut of it.

Since the price of petrol is, by far, much higher in countries other than the US, LP gas conversions are a critical consideration.  I know we have at least one member who has done the conversion.  How it's worked out, I don't know, but it would be a great topic to see to completion.

Use the message search, it may take a bit to hone it in to this particular topic, but try narrowing it down by going to the General Board, and the Dodge Chassis Board, and doing the search there.  I know there's a lot of bacground info available.

I have seen a few msgs on how much peoples rig will go on a gallon so i see it is a good topic worth considering. What i do know on the conversion is that, if its a carberetta version its quite easy to do as yopu can get DIY kits but if you have fuel injection its more technical. You still need to start up on gas the flick the switch to enable the LPG.
