Hi all,

I recently bought a 1975 Brave D-21 with the 440-3 option.  As I expected, a lot of things have been changed from original.  One thing that I'm wondering about is this message display on my dash.  All of the bulbs have been pulled out of the 6 sockets and are clumped together illuminating the floor for 30 seconds after turning the ignition.  Can't easily tell which bulb goes where.  I can't see any name plate from underneath to tell anything about it either.

The messages displayed are:

Fasten Seat Belt
Door Ajar
Step Down
Water Temp
Oil Pressure
Parking Brake On

Is this original?

Thanks,
Aras

Sounds like the same as on my 78.

I think there is a wire diagram on the forum.  Do a search for if you can't find it yell again.  To test the light you just on the switch and they all light up, now just have to determine which go where.    They then go off after start up.

Ok, Stop the truck nothing is wrong. Just plug the lights in the back of the panel. They are a CHECK LIST, a REMINDER, that's all. When you turn the igniton on that check list will light up  Fasten Seat Belt
Door Ajar
Step Down
Water Temp
Oil Pressure
Parking Brake On
to remind you DID you Fasten your Seat Belt,IS the Door Ajar,DID you put your Step Up etc. etc. etc. after a few sec. the lights will go out. There just reminders.  Hm?

Thanks for the replies.  What a strange 'reminder' panel.  I think I'll keep my lights hanging down, sice it's nice to have a little foot illumination when starting the vehicle :)

I don't know about 1975 for sure, but our 1977 with a 440 has three active lights on that panel.  The oil pressure and engine temperature lights work off sending units on the engine and the "step down" light works off the step control unit.  According to both the owner's manual and the wiring diagram, the units equipped with a 440 will have those lights hooked up to the engine.  Rick
