sealant around wires

I am replacing the floor under my refridge and there is a rubbery sealant where the wire harness and the propane lines run thru.  Do you know what I can use to replace it with something like a silicone material.  It appears to be there as an air sealant because it is in all the joint areas.  Is there a requirement for  a sealant around the fridge in the front of the cavity?  All this to burp a poorly operating fridge in hopes of reviving it.

you can use silicone no problem.... or eternabond etc... anything that stops up the gaps so the meece can't invade....

Yep! some good silicone should do the job. It helps seal the cold out as well a drafts.

The sealant also helps prevent LP gas from entering the living space of the rig.  The gas from a leak will supposedly spill out the vent on the outside wall.
