About 35 miles out from Safford, AZ is a BLM land called Hot Wells Dunes.

It is 3 dollars a day to camp there, or 30 bucks for a year pass.  There are shade trees to camp under, fire rings, picnic tables, and bathrooms.

If you are over 60, you can get the senior pass from the BLM office in Safford, which makes every BLM land half price, and most federal parks and lands free or 2 dollars.

The snow capped mountains are stunning, and you are so far from roads that there are no road noises...just quiet wilderness.  Access is easy...all paved roads right to the opening of the park.  No cities anywhere nearby so the stars are as bright as you've probably ever seen them.

There is a camp host, and free firewood.

And then there are the naturally fed hot springs.  Pumped from a 1000 feet down, the water is naturally heated, geothermally, and pumped into hot tubs with solar pumps.  There is also a bath area next to each hot tub for washing up with soap and water, which helps with your water supply, since you won't have to use your own shower.

There is no electricity, or potable water.  You could filter the mineral water in a pinch...or just bring a lot with you.

It is 35 miles back to the nearest gas station, so make sure your fuel tank in the RV is filled for your genny.

There is also a Basha's supermarket in town that has machines to refill your water jugs at only .15 cents a gallon.  On 8th street in Safford is the water plant, where you can dump your holding tanks for free.

This is primative boondock camping at its finest.

You can camp for 2 weeks at a time in any 28 day period...

We love this BLM campground.  AWESOME!

Weekends do have locals that come in and ride their ATVs in the dunes...but its not bad noise wise, and the rest of the week is quiet solitude.

Sites are level and easy to get into.
