We have recently purchased a '78 Elandan II and we ordered a new black water tank.  My husband worked a couple of days removing the old one but is concerned about installing the new one.  Main worry is how the toilet, shower and bath sink drains will connect and seal tightly without removing them and replacing them after the tank is in place.  Could someone share how they have managed this job or do we need it done "professionally?"  This site is great and we have picked up lots of great ideas as we get this home ready for the road.  Thanks, Polly

I only removed and replaced my gray water tank. To seal the inlets back to the tank, I was able to access the area (where the pipes ran straight down into the tank) via the little flap door on the side. There was a rubber sealant there when I removed the tank, so after I reinstalled the tank, I just put new silicone rubber sealant around the pipe joint where it entered the tank. I doubt the joint would be water very long tight if we were to overflow the gray water tank though. The excess sink water would then just drip out from there, which would be preferable to backing up into the shower as far as Im concerned. Ive never had to explore the top of the black water tank yet, happy to say.

Yes I agree mobility RV is the best source - from what I understand winnebago Ind. had a plastic extrusion  company and made their own tanks and roof vent lids - the right tank will make the job much easier . Sea Hag

I haven't ordered from any of these guys but I use them for price comparisons:

The best prices I've seen on a lot of things:

Also try:

Don't assume that the site that has the cheapest WIDGET will always have the lowest price!  Always comparison shop all of the catalogs for each individual item!
