quick release rear escape window

After reading the 1975 Winnebago brochure on the d21 Brave its says under safety standard. Quick release rear escape window.
Now i think they all can be a escape window if ya put a rock through it. LOL
No. for real now. Does anyone no how this rear window is quick release??
I'm looking at this and I got nothing i??
Kick it hard enuff and it pops outand breaks all over the spare tire holder. D:oH!

By what I could tell on TJs, it appears about center, near the bottom is a piece of the rubber seal you can grab with your fingers and pull the seal out, I assume the window just falls out afterwords, but that's just an assumption.

"In the rear of the motor home you will find a window installed with a rubber extrusion.  The instructions are located below the window.  Push the window out.

CAUTION - use for emergency exit only.

If the cord is released by accident, and the glass does not fall out, you can replace the cord with a blunt instrument, preferably plastic.

Of course, if the instructions below the window aren't there anymore, I guess it kinda leaves you in a lurch.  DUH!  That's what the owners manual if for... to tell you how to do it, not tell you to read the instructions somewhere else!

Basically, there's a cord under that rubber piece  and you pull it to break the rubber seal around the window so it just falls out.  BUT... if that doesn't do it, then you're supposed to knock it out... best way is to start at a lower corner and kick the @$%\@# of it until it starts to separate from the frame and then work your way over to the other side until you eventually knock it out.  It's supposed to be safety glass and it'll crack, but it shouldn't shatter.

Pretty high-tech set-up there,  huh?   :)rotflmao
This info is found in the 1975 Indian/Brave Owners Manual you can get through the link in the right side-bar block, on top which says... "Free Owners Manuals!" which are available to every member.  Now, wasn't that a nifty idea?

Incidentally, I actually tried this... If pulling that cord doesn't do the trick, you have to kick the livin' @%$@$ out of that window it to get it to come out.  They should have made a little "break glass in case of emergency" box next to it containing a 2lb sledge hammer to beat it out with.

when I bought my winny the back window was shattered. It is safety glass so it stayed in 1 piece. But when I took it out to replace it with plexiglass, I pulled the rubber out from around it and it still set there like it was glued in. Needless to say after prying,pushing and trying everything it came out in a zillion tiny pieces that I then had to vacuum up from inside and outside the winny.

And in the unlikely event of a water landing, floatation devices can be found under your seat and in an emergency your seat cushion can be used as a floatation device. :)

And, should you run off a cliff, simply climb up on the roof and peel back the aluminum skin which will allow deployment of the built-in, emergency parachute....
