P30 Front Axle Rating (IFS)

While reading alignment and chassis specs I noticed that there were about four or five different ratings for the front ifs axle.   Don't remember exact numbers,  but I tHink the range was from around 4200 to 5500 lbs or so.  I couldn't find any information that told how to determine which particular one would apply to my chassis.

Does anyone know how to determine which particular rating would apply to an 85 chieftain chassis?

What is the Chieftain model?  (22, 23, 26RB, 26RH, 27, 30 or 33)  Those are all the models for that year.

There is a yahoo group for the GM p-30 chassis.  Look on their files and see if it isn't a chart somewhere that gives spring rod OD vs. rating of the spring coil.  I've seen it somewhere and that is somewhere I consult quite a bit.

My 84 P30 Service manual VIN picture indicates the info is there.  Good catch J 

That Winnebago label is normally in a closet or overhead cabinet however the info is also on the GM VIN number plate

I am looking at my WCN31RT label right now.
Date of manufacture 08/88
GVWR - 15,000lb. - 6,804 KG.

GAWR Front- 5,000lb.- 2268 KG
GAWR Rear - 10,000lb. - 4536 KG.

Given the document you were reading lists the following:
For a 4.300-lb suspension, 40-50 PSI
For a 5.000-lb suspension, 50 PSI
For a 5.300-lb suspension, 70 PSI
For a 5.500-lb suspension, 90 PSI

Then I suppose you have your answer (5,000)
