Oh really now!!??

Me thinks they need a new name for thier lil club ???   How about "A cheap knock-off of the REAL Classic Winnebago Club that's been around for 10+yrs and has over 1,000 members WORLDWIDE" ??? I like the ring to that.

Seriously though... they are a registered club within WIT (Winnebago Itasca Travellers) in the Special Interest Club section

"knock-off of the REAL Classic Winnebago Club"

I didn't even catch that, seeing how there is only one "real" winnebago club, I just assumed he was a member from here!

Also found this in a stack of materials that came with my RV.

I like how it appears the dealer crossed out his former partner's name on the bottom.  Nah, don't print up new ones, just put a line through his name.   :)rotflmao

"just put a line through his name"  Seems they liked to use the X on the typewriter too!

I got quite a few original documents with mine but I don't think it came with a Honda!

All too often imitated... The "real"  Classic Winnebagos can never be duplicated.

But, I take that as a compliment on behalf of all our members and, if they want a story that goes far beyond funny colored Winnebagos and a lofty statement about dedication to restoring these classic icons of yesteryear, they should talk to us and find out what true dedication really means... how many times so many members have pulled together to help one another far beyond words and pictures on a message board.

It wouldn't be just a story, it would be a tribute.

Amen to that Mark!!

Actually, I first thought it to just be another online group some yoyo had started... was suprised when I discovered it was actually an officially affiliated sub group of WIT. There was a time not long ago when WIT wouldn't even accept applications if your rig was over 10yrs old.

  • Hm? I can't help but muse over the fact that I can remember when we under Marks leader ship  where going to gather at  points North,South, East and West around Forest City Iowa for a mass parade in to the big Winnebago Anniversary. What where we told? No thank you. If you show up you'll be put out in a field.

Yup, we were not welcome, I remember it very well as I was excited to attend.

Tear that old wound right open, why doncha!  - LOL!  Yup, I talked to their director of promotions and he agree with my statement that having our "old" Winnies there would be a great statement to the durability and longevity of Winnebago RVs.  A good marketing pitch for Winnebago, especially since it was their 50th anniversay celebration  (I actually intended it more as a pitch for US to be able to attend rather than for them but, I didn't present it quite that way).

Yeah, they said they'd put us on the list of attending "vendors" and would send info in advance of the event.  It never came and they never returned my calls about it.

I even tried to register with (nit)WIT.  Guess what?  Our serial numbers wouldn't work on their registration form!  So, I called one of their whoop-dee-doos and asked him about it directly.  Getting a straight answer from him was like trying to demonstrate a sonic toothbrush on a shark.  It wasn't a very productive experience.  Definitely a put-off.  But I guess that when the bottom dropped out of the economy and all the large, Class A motorhomes seemed to disappear from the two Winnebago dealers in my area, I suppose they decided to get a little less "elistist" and start allowing anyone with the long green in.  My opinion:  their loss, totally.

So obviously, it's the cliche case of, "It's not what you know, it's who you know."  But in the end, any positive exposure of vintage RV community efforts to continue to enjoy them is good for us all.

(We're still the best though and... I am unanimous in that!)
