I just bought this unit and crawled under today to check for a leak on right side....WOW.. no cast iron manifolds..

they are tube welded to the flange  looks like SS and have an EXPANSIION joint built between the two front and rear two

ports. right in the middle.. all looks to be SS... very nice....

I cant find out any where who made these.. not full tube headers... appear to be EXACT REPLACEMENT position for outlet

My question is.. THE AIR INJECTION tubes go INTO the top of each exhaust tube right at the header flange....

WHAT KEEPS THE EXHAUST from blowing back up into the AIR TUBES....check valve somewhere...?
I see.. no cracks or leaks that can be giving me the "noise" on right side....im guessing its up within the AIR injection tubes ?

anyway.. I plan on CUTTING all the AIR out anyway and place PLUGS in place of where the tubes thread into top of exhaust tube at header flange...  that will eliminate all the problems with AIR....

these SS welded tube exhaust manifolds look great... glad someone else put em on....  Did the Factory sell these as replacments...?

Also.. on the driver side.. there is the vacuum operated HEAT RISER.. im gonna take that out also...  somebody spent a lot of time installing all this.....

thanks, Mike....

Gee Whiz.. lucky me... Wow...my Genie sure takes care ...

I went to the banks site you had URL. and the one in the middle with "bellows" is it...

In fact the rest of the system looks like SS also....with tin outer covers on the exhaust pipes back to the mufflers...

I guess someone put the whole system on....

:)clap

The H5D AIR system however is stock.  Covered in the Light Truck Service manual and the Chevrolet Motor Home Service manual.  Both available for free in the Members area.

Those are stock factory exhaust manifolds. The most common leak on those are the donut gaskets.

My thought was the most common failure was the bellows. And they are no longer available.

Are we talking about the air tubes that go back into the air cleaner from the manifold??

Hey Hahn007, how's weather in Bonney Lake?

Stripe,
The weather has been typical.  A few nice weekdays here and there,  only to be followed by rain for the weekend.   Kind of puts a damper on waiting weekend projects.......

Unless you're like me with inside stuff to do.

That manifold looks like it's a Gale Banks product...  Just watched an old vid on his stuff and wow..  I wish I had the liquidity to get one of those systems.. :)
