carpet on the ceiling?

good afternoon! I was looking at a motorhome on Craigslist and the seller stated he had carpet on the ceiling for noise reduction and insulation? any input to this?

I have carpet in my Winnie.  Original.  Now the PO was a smoker, heavy..You can see by these photos it was literally "nicotine brown"..I took a Bissel green machine a bottles and bottles of dollar store bleach cleaner, and cleaned and cleaned.  No smoke color, or smell, and it does act as a sound dampener.  I love it..

PS  I would imagine a pain to install, and be careful when installing screws and removing.

Tip: Next time clean it using white vinegar.... it will remove the nicotine and smell... It should remove the stains.. but you might try using OxyClean to do the stains after using the vinegar first.

Mixed Dollar store cleaner with oxy-clean, I also rinsed numerous timeswith white vinegar.  Learned that with a dog and cat...
