Anyone know how to get the draglink off on the M300 Chassis? I don't see how I can get it out without removing the shackle for the leaf springs.  I sure don't want to do that. Anyone got a book that gives a little insight. So far beating with a small sledge hammer hasn't helped.

I havent had to do it on my Winny, but removing the tapered end from the steering arm at one end and the pitman arm at the other end are much the same on any vehicle. One scheme is to put a long pry bar so it bears on the steering arm and the drag link - trying to push them apart. You put enough force on that pry bar to be pulling the joint apart. Then you hit the side of the steering arm - not the end of the taper where the nut threads on. The reason for not hitting the end of the tapef is not to mess up the threads. If you Know you will be replacing the drag link, you might not care about those threads. I have always found that a sledge hammer is the right tool for the hammering. And the blow needs to be 'intense'.
There are 'pickle forks' for driving those joints apart. I have one for car sized joints, there is a bigger one for truck sized joints. i will buy one if and when i need it.
If you have to fall back to using a 'puller', this url has pictures;

Well, I like my forks just like my liver. Just kidding, but I did buy a set. Bought the old Lisle Pickle Fork Kit from Sears. I would have just bought one pitman arm remover, but didn't know if the size would be correct. Besides, with this set, I can use an air hammer and choose between 3 sizes.

We will see how this goes. Wish me luck.

Of course disclosing that I now own the Pickle Fork Kit just opens me up to borrowing. I had thought about using it once, then selling it on Ebay. I figure I might use it again sometime in the next 20 or 30 years though.
