Need help. I took the thermostat housing for my 82 Apollo 3000 (Chevy 454 motor chassis) out and it has a valve on top that got broken.  D:oH! It is a vacuum controller valve actuated by an internal thermostat itself. Does anyone know where I can find this one? It has a number J209 on it, but have looked for it in many parts stores but nothing. These are some pictures of it, also, not sure what it controls.  Hm?

It controls all of the emissions controls and related engine controls. You will find that the vacuum plugs that go on it are dry rotted also.

Thanks Rick, do you know where I can find this valve? Would it work if I GB Weld it?

Thanks Rick! Thanks legomybago!! So now I know how it's called. "Standard Ported Vacuum switch"....    ;)  Do you know if they all the same, I mean, if I find one with the same amount and combination of tubing that come out, would it work? I found one on ebay for about half the price. Just want to make sure it will work.

Ported vacuum switch.  Standard motor products PVS80 or BWD EC2927 or Wells 7p1067.  Should've been easy to find by any parts store help.

I was looking for it as a 1982 Chevy C3500 PU truck.  ???  Showed nothing on o'reilys nor Autozone.  i??

Does this mean that my motor is actually a 350 and not a 454??

Rickf1985

No, They used that switch on 350 motors also. There are many different varieties of TVS's so you have to be sure you get the right combination of hoses.

The part numbers I posted show 305-454's from 84 to 89.

I unhooked mine when I put on my Edelbrock. I also don't have any A.I.R. pumps. I took the hoses off of the vac switches and left it in place. No issues that I can tell.
