Are there any suggestions  on what to  use to repair a small to moderate  leak in my Chieftain's  grey water  tank?
The  P.O. (or previous to him)  apparently  blew a tire  and  pieces  of it damaged the  tank.  It  looks like it  has been gooped up at least  twice. I will be sure  to clean the  old stuff off before I patch it.
I  was  sanitizing  my  water  system when I  found the  leak.

Please  let me know  what  works and  what doesn't.
Thanks

THEY SELL A PATCH KIT AT  MOST RV REPAIR STORES. HAVE NOT USED THEM,BUT THEY SAY THAT THEY WORK. THE SERVICE MANUAL EXPLAINS IN DETAIL HOW TO WELD THE TANKS. I GOT MINE FROM MY LOCAL WINNEBAGO DEALER. THEIR ORDER NUMBER IS 701674-02-000.
THIS MANUAL GOES INTO DETAIL ON HOW TO REPAIR WALLS,CEILING AND FLOORS ECT.. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT ANY ONE WORKING ON THE OLDER WINNEBAGO HAVE ONE. GRATE SOURCE OF INFORMATION.

in alot of cases - it is better to replace the whole tank with a new one. You are talking about trying to repair a tank that is close to or IF NOT over 30 years old.

The  tank appears to  have been  changed at some time.  It  does not appear to  be 23+ years old  as the  rest of the rig.   The  damage  appears to  isolated  to the left front  corner  of the tank. I  would  rather  try to  patch it at this  time...

It appears  th PO  used  roof patch (the  black stuff you'd use on your non-mobile house)  and  then some  sort of caulking  on top of that.  It  peeled off in a matter of seconds.   I cleaned the area  (1.5 inch crack in the  corner)   used an epoxy  product  and then  fiberglass  resin on top of that.    I  will leak  test in the  morning  and post results.

Question? Is the tank a kind of white fiberglass or a black plastic or PVC type plastic.  Hm?

Sorry for the delay...  Been on a hiatus/sabbatical of sorts...  My leaker  was  a fiberglass  type tank.  It was a VERY  long  time ago  and I don't  recall  what I  used  to seal it up.  HOPEFULLY  I wont  have  to  repeat that  exercise!
