I just purchased a 76 brave d21 the exterior paint is in decent shape but I want to eventually paint it.. I'm trying to go with a more modern look on the classic... My brother is an engineer for a company that builds semi trailers and is sending me all new clear led's to replace every light on the exterior as well as a set of Tri bar h4 headlights....
Kind of a resto mod appearance I guess you could call it
--- I've been searching and I believe I'm going to use some rustolium with the roll on method...  Now I'm not opposed to white but I may have paint tinted I would really like a silver or light grey color (similar to what you would see on some newer high end coaches).. I am not opposed to shooting single stage automotive paint either but it seems rolling it on if done correctly can look just as nice
Now any opinions on colors I'm liking silver/grey and black combinations with the classic flying w that possibly transitions to something a bit more modern on the back
The real question is is how would color effect the coach temps .. I'm sure there is a reason that the majority of coaches and trailers are white.. But I've been seeing more and more in other colors.. What do you all think

I am familiar with the Rustoleum roll-on paint method. If you have the time and patience, it can be a great way to get a very presentable paint job on the cheap. There are a lot of good info on it on the web, I'd suggest doing some extensive research before you decide. It is not for the lazy... lol You will be wet sanding the entire rig between every one of the 6-10 coats recommended to get maximum shine and protection, and that is absolutely an exhausting job. It will scare you at first, because it goes on thin & runny the first few coats.. and look a total disaster. But after the 5-6 coat, you'll start seeing the color and shine build.

Paint it any color you like, that's the fun of the whole thing. No two are ever alike, and that's a good thing. But, in response to your question, Yes. Black or other dark colors will be hotter than white or light colors... That's just basic physics. Might want to read this article on the subject from Phys.org (a physics website) :http://phys.org/news/2011-10-silver-white-cars-cooler.html
Basically, a black RV will be hotter inside, and need more A/C to stay as cool as a white one would. You may or may not have to upgrade the existing A/C unit to a larger one in order to compensate. The standard size is 13.5k btu.. but they do sell larger 15k btu units.
I reserve the right to reject your reality and substitute my own...

I'm actually leaning toward a paint product by sherwin Williams similar to the rustolium.. It runs about 56 a gallon... I'm looking at some very light grays and black trim and accents...

Maybe it's not the search, but the keywords your're using.  Or maybe, and this is a common error, you're not selecting "entire forum" from the search drop down.  If you do a search and you're still on a specific topic, it will default to "this topic".  Definitely won't find anything there.  You can also select "this board", which is good if you're on the right topic board.  Or, you can google search the site.

Please refer to them and ask any additional questions you have on one that meets your needs the best.
