Replacement front spring air bladders needed: '85 Itasca

These are the small rubber air bags inside the front coil springs. I got one quote of $350.00 for theparts and 6 hr labor to installl. They say the front end has to be dismantled to install the air bags....has anyone done this ?? Are there any better aftermarket bags available???

You did not say what brand they were quoting however,  Firestone does make replacement air bags for the Chevy P30 chassis.  Refer to http://www.ride-rite.com/2003_applications.htm for information and access to the installation manual (pdf file) for them.  This will give an understanding of what is involved to perform this task.  You can purchase replacement air bags at many places.   I suspect Air-Lift also has replacement air-bags for your application.  A little web search goes a long ways.

Hi Campers Choice has Replacement poly airbags for Chevy P-30 motorhome chasis for $72.95 for a pair. They claim easy installation in less than an hour. I have a P-30 that needs airbags and I'm thinking of purchasing them myself. If you have a campers choice catalog you can find them on page 88, pugsley

I had to replace mine, after checking I found some at the local Chevy/RV repair shop in Burleson Tx.  They were about 40.00 ea and all I did to install them was to take the upper ball joint loose and take the old one out and install the new one.  I jacked up the coach and put it on a jackstand  and removed the tire then used a floor jack under the lower a frame. letting the hub do most of the work (pulling down). I loosened the upper ball joint nut, gave the housing a swift lick with the 2 lb. sledge and then it was resting on the jack. Removed the nut and lowered the jack. Took out the old spring and installed the new airbag.  I have since added a new coil spring ( to increase the ride hight)... Before I replaced the spring I was running about 90-100 lbs of air.. After the spring replacement I am running about 50-55 lbs and the ride is a whole lot better...
