So lads this begs the question. What brand name charger would you guys recommend a person buy.

If you are looking for a stand alone 3 stage charger - not converter or inverter/charger I would always recommend Xantrex.

Sorry - thought you were asking about a charger.
It is not our abilities that show what we truly are - it is our choices.

Although... That's what I did on mine about 15 years ago.  I took out the old converter and put in a Xantrex True Charge 40.  To protect it, I also put a Brick Wall surge protector between it and the plug on the load center.  It has performed flawlessly since.  Rick

Best bang for the buck:  Powermax Boondocker.  Ours works extremely well.

Xantrex, Powermax Boondocker and Progressive Dynamics are all excellent.
Each has different variations from converter/charger, Inverter/charger, charger.

It comes down to what features do you want, will it fit in your allocated space, and can you afford it.

I'll second Kevin's Powermax Boondocker recommendation.  I installed the PM4B-75 earlier this year, and it has been wonderful :   http://www.bestconverter.com/Powermax-Boondocker-Converters-_c_154.html
Randy is very knowledgeable, and can help you pick the right one.

It's so nice to not worry about overcharging while hooked up to shore power for an extended period, and it tends the batteries very well with it's 4-stage charging.    75 amps might have been a little more than I needed for my simple setup, but I got it because it (and higher amperage units) has the 'Power Correction Factor' built in.  Nice clean power supply, and so easy to hook up.

It sure is a lot quieter than the old UTRAD unit that was in there.

You went from 60 amps on the breakers to 120 amps? Do you have the wiring and power to handle that.

I am governed by the 20A breaker on the supply line that i am plugged into  so it does not matter if i have 100 A breakers And i never run more than1 consumer in the winnie at a time if A/C is running it gets turned off to make coffee or toast Same with elec heat ! Frank

I had a converter go haywire and I contacted progressive dynamics and they told me my converter is not repairable so I started my search. I priced the Progressive Dynamics and they were much more expensive than the power max. I ordered the converter on line got free shipping and I ended up saving $80 over the other brands. The power max has three stage charging and it been working fine maintaining 13.1 volts in my battery bank for the about 4 mos. now> Keep them shining
