Hello the forum, I have a copy of the factory brochure for this rig and tank capacity for the holding tanks is  Main 29 gals and Aux 55 Gals, now looking at the diagram that is shown on the brochure is does not specify which is black and which is gray water, does anyone know the true capacity for the black water tank on these?

PDF pages 47 and 48 of 1984-1988 common parts book show for WCM31RQ

27 = Main = Black
55 = Aux = Grey

In older years they made black bigger than grey but it needs to be the opposite as shown with this setup.

I have the WCM31RT and I am pretty sure my tanks are about equal. I will see if I can find the info in my book today, the weather is crappy anyway.

I know they are a very odd shape and my black tank was replaced before I got mine, It is marked on it "#2 DO-DO".  :)rotflmao :)rotflmao

Rick,
Your Black tank (toilet) is 50 gal
Your Grey tank (shower) is 30 gal

I've never understood the logic behind a BW tank being close to twice the size of the GW. Even for a beer drinker. i?? i??
Would that it were simple to switch around.

Originally there were just black tanks.  Grey water to ground.
Then they started adding grey water tanks when people complained about the muddy mess.
Just took them a while to figure out which one needed to be bigger.
My black is the big one however it also is for the shower.  Still, I fill the grey up far to fast.
So, since my grey tank is higher than my black tank, I got one of these to allow grey to black transfer.  Close hose outlet.  OPen grey and black and let grey drain to black.  Close both.

I can pretty much guarantee that is not correct, I can see my black tank and no way is it 50 gallons. I believe they are both around 30 gallons and my fresh water tank is 55 gallons. I will look tomorrow.

And we ALL know how accurate that stuff can be. It is 19 degrees out with 30 MPH wind. I will look at it when it goes above 35! I have to go way the hell out past Harrisburg, Pa. tomorrow. Probably even colder there.

I can relate.  20 degrees, 5mph wind, 13 wind chill here.

Good morning, Beaverman;

     The Winnebago people can surprise us at times.  Download the .pdf copy of the microfiche parts lists from the Winnebago web site,  www.winnebagoind.com  , under "Product Resources."  Get the one for your year and your exact model number.  I have found the parts lists to be very helpful when working on things on the Elandan.

     My 1987 Winnebago Elandan WCP31RT has a surprising water tank system for the potable fresh water and for the holding tanks:

     Fresh water,        54 gallons.
     Black water,         28 gallons.
     Gray water #1,    28 gallons, from the bathroom and kitchen sinks.
     Gray water #2,    21 gallons, from the shower and under the shower.

     Yes, mine has two (2) gray water tanks and a total of three (3) drain valves to be opened at various stages when dumping the holding tanks.  That is a total of 77 gallons of holding tank capacity for it.

     Another item slightly related to this topic, is that the Valtera people now have a clear plastic twist-lock cap, Valtera 1020-CLR, to go onto the drain port or dump port where the three (3) inch diameter drain hose fits.  This clear cap allows you to use a flashlight to see if there is a water level line inside the drain port.  If there is, then put a small bucket, plastic bowl, or other catch container under the drain port before you remove the clear plastic cap from the drain port.

          Enjoy;
