Has anyone added a window where there wasn't one before? I have a 71 champion and there isn't a window at the sink and it makes it somewhat dark in that area. How does a person go about it without tearing the whole side off to see what's in the wall? Same with a roof vent, I'd like to add ac but I don't want to loose my only roof vent

A digital stud finder - quite inexpensive - will show you wood/metal studs and structure behind the wall. They measure density changes. For greater accuracy, check the wall in question inside and out to ensure you get the same reading. You want to avoid cutting through any existing structural support.

He is working on one with metal siding so that might make it a bit inaccurate. You will be able to find studs but you will not know about wiring until you open the wall.

Actually they measure density from the point of origin outwards. If you place it on an interior wall - wallpaper, luan, insulation, exterior siding, it will give a reading of higher/lower density from, depending on how you move it, that point.
Lateral movement will pinpoint a stud, be it wood, metal, or whatever, provided the density is somewhat different from the start point. Hence my suggestion to check from both inside and outside to achieve the most accurate reading possible.
Under no circumstances should you use one to determine wire location.
That was NOT my advice. Once you determine a desired location, there are other steps to follow - safety, structure, wiring, etc.

Since I don't have a stud finder, this gives me an excuse to buy one! My biggest concern is hitting a steel tube, wiring and wood can be worked around!!
