Where is the instrument voltage regulator on a 1972 M 400?

On the RM series (RM300, RM350, RM400) that started in 73 it was mounted on the rear of the instrument panel
Prior to that (M300, M375) it was built into the gas gauge so you have to replace the gauge to replace the VR.
