The gas gauges on 1973 Brave D20 only show a half tank when I know they are full. They seem to go down at an accurate rate during travel. I just put more gas in when they reach "E". I most likely still have a 1/2 tank left. My questions are has anyone found this to be caused by anything else other than a stuck float?

I noticed your said "they" meaning both main and aux tanks.  To me, that sounds like it might be something else than the fuel sender in each tank.

WHEN I REPLACED MY MAIN TANK I FOUND THE FLOAT WAS ABOUT 1/3 FULL OF FUEL. JUST ABOUT WHAT I WAS OFF. HAD SAME READING AS YOU.    HAL

Put an analog voltmeter, or even a small wattage light bulb, across the fuel gauge terminal which Doesn't go to the tank sender line. It should be on for 5/12ths of the time, off for 7/12ths of the time - to average about 5 volts to the gauge, or your voltage -limiter- inst doing its job. Thats with your ignition on. And if that is working, try making a new ground connection from the metal of the gauge housing to your frame or the negative side of the battery. Also make sure both tanks are well grounded - denison

Heres the part # for the gauge/sender I told you about. part # 501-1742 cost $38.99, It is a universal replacement, check to see if it would work for your application. lefty
