Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a supplier for old body parts. The plastic valance above the cab is badly deteriorated and I need a replacement. Was thinking of just making something else for it, just wanted some input someone who may have insight. Thanks!

Well from what I know of Minnesota you have Jake's RV Salvage in Fairmont ( http://www.jakesrvsalvage.com/ ), not been in MN since 2000, so not sure if they are still in biz. Also, give Harmony Enterprises a call 507-886-6666.  they are supposed to have components available for any Harmony roof-lift system. Heco camper canvasses are available for Palomino, Puma, Trade Winds, Winnebago and many more.

Salvage yards and parting-out rigs.  There's a salvage yard list if you look to your right.

I bought a front trim piece from http://www.lichtsinn.com/request-a-part.aspx for my 85 Itasca. I looked up the part in his catalog, sent him an email and he called back within an hour quoting $16 and 2-3 weeks delivery. The part arrived a week anmd a half later, with shipping came to just over $30 (it was a long piece, 36" long, so shipping was something like $15 from IA to WA.

He actually had the Winnebago factory across the street make the part (reason for 2-3 week delivery estimate) and it was shipped directly from Winnebago Industries.

I am very pleased with that experience - I don't know if I ever would have found that part, I think my 22' Sunflyer is not very common, most Itasca's of mid-eighties vintage I see on the road around here are longer models.

I just got a quote from them, almost 1100$! Thinking of making my own piece with fiberglass for that price. Anyone ever seen that done on here?  I guess im a little hesitant to get one from a salvage yard because if mines deteriorated that bad, im sure others are as well. but i geuss it cant hurt to check.

Ouch! For that much I'd pull a mold off the old piece and make a new part from fiberglass. Could be a lot of work, but less than $1100 fifth sure.

Another option would be to laminate another layer of fiberglass over the piece.  You could even do that in place without removing it.  Then sand it well and re-gell coat it, or paint it.

That's true, it would work and be a lot easier. I'm sure with these old rigs, a couple extra few pounds won't matter. It's getting cold here so, I got a while now before I can do glass work anyway....
