Air Conditioner short cycling - may have fixed it

Fired up the generator and turned on the AC to see how well its working.  Looks like an original '87 model Coleman TSR series, but the top cover says MACH??  Anyway, the compressor kept running off and on like it was short cycling, or low on freon.  We used this RV over a weekend 3 years ago or so when the inlaws still had it, in August the AC just didn't seem to keep up. 

Noticed some debris in the condensor, so will have to get up there and clean it out as well as check the run capacitor.

I pulled the inside cover to look at the filter.  While it was off, the compressor stayed on, never did cycle off. 



It appears that there used to be some seals for the cover to keep the supply air and return air from mixing.  I think that is what is happening, some of the cool supply air is getting in the return and shutting the compressor off.  The weather stripping seals are all but gone  .  Should be an easy fix tho.  Just need to find some 1/4" foam(?) weather stripping.

Just a thought but maybe keep an eye out for the temperature sensor.  Along the lines of what you were thinking, possibly the cooled air is blowing on the temperature sensor somewhere in the inlet side

I picked up some 3/8" foam weatherstrip yesterday.  Will try to get that installed soon and try it out.

Got the new weather strip installed.  Supposed to warm up in a few days, will try to test it out. 

Meanwile, what is the best method to clean the coils up top?  Water, compressed air, etc?
