New fridge calls for 40 Amp fuse?

Hoping you all can help me figure this one out...
The new Norcold 3-way fridge calls for a 40 Amp fuse in the 12VDC + power wire (and states it should come directly from the battery, but more on that later). 

First question - What do you all have, a fuse, or a circuit breaker, or?

Second question - What should I use?  (am considering either a Maxi Fuse, or a little automotive circuit breaker - with the two posts)


I am guessing one of the reasons for not running the power through the 12V power distribution panel is because they usually are not rated for more than 20 Amps in each circuit (at least mine is not).

My old 3 way fridge had a 40A breaker in the compartment with it. My new 2 way only requires 10A fuses to run the electronics and igniter board.

The high amp fuse is to support the DC Heating element in the DC mode (would not be used in AC or Gas mode).  If there is a problem in a circuit of that nature you do not want an auto reseting CB protecting it becasue it will constantly recycle.  I would either use a fuse or a regular CB mounted close to the battery compartment.
