16" LT Tires?

I know this is probably been beat to death but I couldn't find much that applied to my needs.
My tires are from 7th week 2001. They look good BUT from everything I read they are on borrowed time.
They are L235 85 R16 Norseman by Armstrong Co.
Looking online most sites have LT which I think is light truck. Probably not what I would want right?
Is the "L" the load rating in my tire ID. I find 16 inchers to be sort of rare birds.
I don't plan on a lot of road miles just local within a couple hundred miles for future use.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions that won't break the wallet.

The L is light truck, what you want is load range D or E
