I have a 1970 winnebago  D-18.  I can't find anywhere in my RV that gives me the levels in each of my holding tanks.  Is there a way to add sensors so that I know how full my tanks are?

Absolutely.  Though, it will take some good pre-planning and resourcing.  Not all models were furnished with the holding tank indicator in that year so if your tanks don't have a sensor installation location, then you may have to get creative.

You can purchase a totally aftermarket sensor set-up and indicator panel (I'm guessing that wouldn't be very cheap) or get the whole schmear from a junkyard.  Either the original set-up used for about a decade in the classic Winnies, or one from another brand.

Take a good look at your tanks and measure them.  Draw out a diagram of where all the hook-ups are and how it's mounted.  You could pull good condition tanks from another junked RV and use them, possibly with only a little mounting modifications.

In the vintage RV game, creativity and ingenuity wins the day and saves a ton of money.

Here are two websites  you can check for a complete monitor system for your tanks - they have RV, marine and custom application monitoring systems- www.rvgauge.com  (www.seelevelproducts.com)  and www.rvelectronics.com in Australia  - also for your holding tanks - another site with macerator systems - www.emptythetanks.com  - you can also search the web for suppliers to the marine industry for some gauges as well as the sites with bus conversion information .
