Does  anyone have any ideas for getting rid of  a sort of stale musty smell  in our Brave. The previous owner had used it only twice in 5years. It  has no leaks or anything. We washed the foams & my wife has made new  covers for them. We have been opening the door &windows &vents  every day that its not raining for the last few months, but the smell  still lingers! We don't really want to just cover it up with something as  we are sensitive to perfumes & such.

Hi myk, Here is a  suggestion for musty smell. This works great for smells even fish smell.  Cut a bunch of green grass and put in a small box or spread it on floor  of MH and close it up and let stand a day or to. I had fish spoil in my  freezer and a friend told me to wash out freezer good then put a box  of  green grass in it for couple days did an smell all left.. Try it Its  the chlorophyll (how ever u spell it ) that absorbs smell.. AkGal

You noted that you  are sensitive to perfumes and such, so I don't know if this is  something you would want to try. My wife bought a box of  Bounce ( the  sheets you throw in the dryer, the kind that sometimes get hung in your  pant leg only to later work their way down your pant leg when you are in  public!) and placed the sheets throughout the coach. She placed them in  cabinets, the closet, under seats etc. They made a big difference in  the smell of both motor-homes we have owned.

Well AK Gals  suggestion  won out ,its being tried at the moment, I have a wheel barrel full of grass spread out in 4or 5 places !  I closed her all up  except the top vents as its hot right now & I don't want to make hay, although hay smells nice, lots of things smells nicer than the musty  smell ! The previous owner had always used a thing called DRY-Z-AIR, it  uses silica crystals in a screened bowl with a cup under it to catch the  water, but the smell still got there.  We have unscented bounce but that probably wouldn't do the trick, BTW, I  heard that bounce sheets work  wonders at repelling mosquitoes, & black flies,  you just put a  sheet in every pocket or in your hat band or ponytail OR belt loops  etc., but I think you need the smelly type as well.  Hey AK Gal when you  get your Winnie on the road & if you are going south into B.C. let  us know, we are near Prince George aprox .1500miles from Anchorage.

Hi myk, I am still  working on mine, engine is great, but need to fix furnace pipe kinda  fell apart. Not sure how yet . being a woman its trial and error.. I  hope the green grass of home LOL helps out.. If it does let me know.  Also to keep bugs and ants and etc away spray with Listerine around  cupboards and outside perimeter of house, even can spray animals for  fleas and its natural . Good luck and happy travels, come my way I live  in wasilla out of anchorage towards Fairbanks. I have 1966 ford Winnebago with a ford straight six 300.. Have fun.. Ak gal

Just to update every  one on the musty smell; its gone!! At least I cant smell it any more, my  wife says she can smell it very faintly, but I think she smells the one  foam that we didn't re-cover.  We just spread a bunch of grass around as  per AK Gals instructions and left it for 4or5 days. After a few days it  smelt like we where drying marijuana!
We left it a few day longer  & then removed it & aired it out for a day, and presto no more  smell!   AK Gal's suggestion sounded crazy enough to work, and it worked  good! Thanks AK Gal!
