I'm trying to find a replacement set of hoses as mine are looking like they need replacing. I have the dual piston calipers on the front discs. I measured mine and it looks to be right around 18 inches long with a 3/8-24 male end and 7/16-20 female end.

I was able to lookup and find a 78 M600 front brake hose part number on the Raybestos website BH38519 or Bendix 88468, which crosses over to a handful of other part numbers too but the problem is it is a 21-5/8 long hose with the same ends, but no listing for a M500. This hose is about 3.5 inches longer than my current ones.

I then went onto the Bendix site and was able to lookup a 77 M400 and it gave part number 88222 or Raybestos BH26913, which is a 15-1/4 long hose with the same ends, but again no listing for a M500. This hose is about 3 inches shorter than the current ones.

So I am stuck now I can't seem to find the correct part number, anyone else ran into this? I should be able to make the longer ones work, but I just want to know if maybe there is a number out there for the M500's...

My 78- 79 Dodge parts book shows M4-500, 78 year part no 3894 749,
                                                                  79 year M5-600, part no 4115 564

The Bendix site Interchanges both those Dodge numbers to its 88468 hose, Raybestos only Interchanges the 79 number, but it crosses over to BH38519, so it looks like I am going with the longer hose.

Thanks JD

i had trouble finding the brake hoses too. i went to a brake performance shop(racing) and got some braided s.s. hoses. just bring your hose with u and they can fit a adapter for your threads and they sell the hose in all lengths.
looks cool too.
hope this helps a little.

The 69-77 Parts book also says 3894749 for M400-M500 chassis
Please note that on Bendix you have to go to 76 M5

Bendix P/N 88222

Bendix P/N 88468

In the picture at least, the 88468 looks longer than the 88222

I suspect either will work but assuming they have never been replaced and you indicated that the 88222 would be shorter than what you have then going with the longer one makes sense.

Dodge P/N 3894749
     Bendix: 88222
     Raybestos: BH26913 (15.375")
     NAPA : 26913

Dodge P/N 4115564
    Bendix: 88468
    Raybestos: BH38519 (21.625")
    NAPA: 38519
Please note that Raybestos shows there are also 2 washers included with the BH38519 hose:

The 69-77 Dodge Parts manual indicates the M600 P/N is 4030310.  That maps back to the same listing as 4115564

This is a good example of how you can use the different web sites (i.e Bendix, NAPA, Raybestos, etc.) and the original Dodge P/N's to find part alternatives.   It is the approach I have been using for the information I have provided on my web site.

Exactly, AC Delco also makes the longer hose 18J553 and Napa 38519

I am going to order the longer ones and go from there.
