OIl pump not turning on camshaft

Hi I got a '78 winnie 440 I thought to prime the pump as described.
It will not turn as it is connected to the camshaft.
Is this something that is moved the oil pump before priming.
Since i don't have a schematic I didn't dare try to reposition or anything like that to the
pump.I had the nightmare thought of something getting screwed up in there.
Any thoughts-this winnie hasn't been started is a few yrs
