Hey guys,
We are going to be at Leisure Acres Campground in Cleveland,Ga.
http://leisureacrescampground.com/
From May 1st. 2012, thru May 31st.,2012
We are going to meet up with some friends who are staying there for the summer. Would love for any members interested to plan to meet us there for a weekend or more.
We've never been there, but our friends say it's a really nice campground.

Wow!  A whole month!  Sounds like an awesome camping trip!  While you are there, take a little trip on a weekend to the Georgia Renaissance Festival.  We won't personally be there ourselves, but our franchise is there, and its a LOT of fun!  Its located in Fairburn, GA, and starts up in May.

Hi Kev, we will try and check it out.. I've never been to a RenFaire so it would be a new experience. I'm betting it would be a lot of fun.

I've actually been to Helen,Ga. a few times. My roommate used to be the Activities Coordinator for Marshall Co. Council on Aging. He arranged field trips for 9 senior citizen centers.. Helen,Ga. was one of the places that they regularly took them to. We also went to Chatanooga,Tn. every fall for the 5hr Fall Color Cruise on the Southern Belle riverboat... which is a must-do if your in the area during the fall.

This will be our first long distance/ long duration trip in our RV since we purchased it last fall. We have used it for an extended weekend during Thanksgiving at his nieces...which was about 40 miles ea way. But before we hit the road full-time we wanted to give it another test run. This trip is roughly 220 miles ea way for us, and staying a month should tell us if we could stand living full-time in it or not.
Hoping some members still might plan a weekend trip there...

I am so tired! It's been 7yrs since our last RV long distance road trip... and I had forgotten all the work it takes to prepare!! lol
We've been working all week getting things ready to go. I pulled all our gear out and have been cleaning and checking everything before packing it away. Found a rat nest built in our Coleman stove..but thankfully no rat! Also found a brand new 12' dia. screen room that I had totally forgot that we owned.
I finished the last of the pre-trip repairs on the rig today...which I posted on another topic in detail.
We bought a new tag for it ($137.00), and tomorrow we are going to take it to have the propane tank filled and fuel it up. We're pretty much all packed up, with only our clothes and groceries left to pack into it.
As far as I can determine, it's as roadworthy as I can make it. I've spent all week doing everything I could think of that needed doing. I took it out this afternoon after I finished fixing and cleaning all of the lights for about an hour long drive.. It ran and drove like a dream the whole time, and I couldn't find anything wrong with it.
I know it sounds like I'm being overly-cautious, but some of you might remember what happened to us on our last road trip in Beatrice. Three separate fires, losing the brakes going down a mountain, and a heater stuck on full hot in mid-august 105deg heat among many other things!!! And that was just on the way to our destination... and doesn't include the return trip! (It took us 13hrs to drive from Birmingham to Stone Mtn. Ga.!!! Normally a 2hr trip)
All I want is to be able to have a safe and trouble-free trip, without having to stop every 10 min. to fix something that breaks. And to be able to enjoy myself while we are there, relaxing, without spending all of my time repairing the RV.

If everything goes as planned, we will be leaving out around 7AM Monday morning.

 We'll be waiting with baited breath in panting anticipation of your up dates as the trip goes along. Lauren and I are heading out tomorrow to Jackson Michigan to a swap meet for old fire truck parts. Going to stay over in Wall-mart parking lots for the nights and put the money towards gas.

Be Prepared!  That is always the best motto, especially with our vintage RVs.  Here's is to a fun and mechanically uneventful trip!

Finished the last of the packing a couple hrs ago. She's sitting in the driveway with the dolly hooked up and our Tracer securely attached. Filled the fuel tanks and propane today. Everythings packed up, put away and ready to go. Tomorrow morning, all I have to do is get dressed, pour me some coffee and fire it up. Well, that, and let the dogs go potty first...lol

We even finished getting the house ready for being shut a month... TV's all unplugged, A/C turned up, and fridge cleaned out of anything that'll ruin.

Next post, I'll hopefully be sitting in GA sipping a cold one under the awning... :P

Well,
we left the house this morning right on time at 7AM, just as we had planned. She made the trip without a single problem at all!!! Took us about 7 hrs to get here, because I had to stop about 4 times to retighten the tire straps on the dolly...for some reason they kept vibrating loose every 50 miles or so. And we stopped for lunch, and also because we went backroads the entire way, and took our time.

We averaged almost 10mpg, and that's incl running the genset the whole way so we could run the roof A/C...
I'm relieved that it didn't have any problems, and we're looking forward to enjoying our stay here.
Tomorrow I need to see if I can pick up any TV stations with the antenna, tried tonight without luck. I'm suprised that they have WiFi, but no cable TV. Going to be a long month if I can't watch any TV at all!! lol Might have to watch it on the laptop via HULU or something.

Yay!  Glad you made there alright with no problems!

Its amazing how much fuel economy you can squeeze out of a 454 if its properly tuned and you keep it slow and easy.
