Anyone have an extra control board for an older Atwood water heater, model GH6-6E?  Its the old style, looks like a white plastic box with a wire plug on the side and an ignitor post on the front.

Thanks!

Hmm, gotta love older stuff.
Your best and cheapest bet for a new board is a Dinosaur board http://www.dinosaurelectronics.com/Ignitor_boards.htm.  You need to know the length (S = 4.25" or L = 5.1") and if the ignitor lead attachment is spade or post.  I have used the Fan 50 Plus Dinosaur Board in my furnace for several years and it works great.  Prices range from $79 to $150 depending on source (http://stores.ebay.com/RV-PARTS-AROUND-THE-CLOCK/Dinosaur-Electronics-PC-Boards-/_i.html?_fsub=1303330011)

UIB S = Small (4.25") with spade
UIB S Post = Small (4.25") with post
UIB L = Large (5.1") with spade
UIB L Post = Large (5.1") with post

I believe the stock Atwood replacement is to use a upgrade kit 91504 which includes both board and new spade lug ignitor (http://compare.ebay.com/like/130325568516?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar).  I am fairly sure the Atwood replacement board in the kit is 93865.  See this post regarding some of this confusion: http://barthmobile.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3631087061/m/7341071413.  Price of this stuff ranges from $138 to $250 depending on source.

Thanks Dave!  I did some shopping around and found a Dinosaur Electronics UIB-S universal ignitor board for 64 bucks, and that was with expedited shipping, so I'll have it here by Saturday!  Its the post version, 4.25 in length, just like the one I have, so it will be a direct fit with no modifications, not even to the wiring!  Plug and play since its the exact configuration, even where the plug slides on.  I'll have to remove one jumper so it doesn't have the 3-try start and just direct starts, which they recommend for the removal of for water heaters and refrigerators.

I even found out what was wrong with the ignitor board on ours when Patti washed the cover...the cover was all melted around the big capacitor, which is fried.  Since the Dinosaur board is updated from the original with LED indicator lights and even a 5 amp spade fuse, and since the cover is all melty and burned, I also ordered a clear cover made for it, also by Dinosaur Electronics, for only another 8 bucks...SWEET!

3 year warranty on the thing too, which is pretty good for an electronic part!

I'm going to repost a modified version of this post under Coach so the information doesn't get lost for anyone else who has problems with a similar year Atwood water heater, especially the GH6-6E, which is obviously a darn fine water heater, since ours has lasted for over 23 years!

Dinosaur Electronics has been a good source for many, "outdated" control boards for many years.  Not only for heaters but for refrigerators, and Onan Generators as well.
