What is a Heater anticipator?

Had to replace my heater thermostat and found it had an "Anticipator". So I had to do some research as to what it was and where to set it and I thought I would share the link with you all.

It's a person who goes into their freezing RV, turns on the furnace, then sits down... a heater anticipator...

Definition:
The thermostat heat anticipator is a device mounted in the center of many mechanical thermostats that fine tunes the time when the thermostat tells the furnace burners to turn off.
