radiator source needed 440

I have contacted local and internet sources for my 79 m500 radiator with "no listings" The local shop said the top and bottom headers looked weak and they did not want to recore. the size is 26 wide and 21 tall. Any one know of a reasonable priced source. I do not want to spend 400-500 on a custom aluminum job.

I reviewed the messages on the message search and it appears that a new radiator is about as rare as an ugly supermodel.  It would seem the best bet is to contact salvage yards, check radiator shops, and e-bay for a rebuilt one. - Sob

And can you find the 7 digit mopar part number on it? - often located on the top tank. And for those of us who visit truck supplier places, the other important dimensions: How thick the core is, if the inlet is centered in the top tank, if the outlet is on the drivers side of the bottom tank, and if it has the tranny cooler down there. denison

If the old radiator was the one put in by dodge, somewhere on it would be a 7 digit mopar number, probably stamped on the top tank.  A radiator vendor should be able to match it based on that.  If it was a replacement, it would still have had a model number on it somewhere, possibly on a metal tag.  It might be repairable too.
   There were different radiators used with the 440-3 engines in the Dodge motorhome chassis over the years, with a couple of different locations for the top and bottom hose connections, and a couple of different mounting bracket types.  Good luck. 
   And it seems that if you change from the 318 to the 440, you will also have to change your A727 transmission, since it comes in different cases - with the bellhousing matching the small blocks -318-, and a version matching the big blocks, - 413/440-.

I would get a second estimate from another shop . These radiators are all brass and built very well . If it's the top and bottom tanks thier claimming are bad , I have a set of Good tanks off my 76 that may work for a recore . would need your numbers off yours to make sure as my parts catalog only goes to 77 . Ok I removed my radiator and found the part number 2960735. It appears to be the original radiator. The top radiator hose is in the middle, the bottom radiator hose is on the drivers side, it also has tranny lines that run to the bottom of it. I have a radiator from a 440 but it's not near me and I am trying to get the specs on that one to see if it will fit. Otherwise I might look into getting this one fixed, or if I can find a replacement I might go that route too. Any comments?

I just had the radiator for my 440 recored. Mine is different from yours. Not sure why that would be. The inlet and outlet are both located on the passenger side on mine.

  Part Number 2960 735 is the original radiator for 70 -72  with 318 .- For 70-72  w/413 #2959 565   The radiator number for 440 starting in 73 - 74 are # 3733 601 -   For 75-76  w 440    # 3827 621  -  for  77 w/ 440  # 4037 605 .  I have the Tanks for a 75 -76  radiator if it comes down to that , but the core has been scraped . If the radiator you found matches any of the 440 numbers you should be ok . might have to modify the mount . shouild work with your 318 with a aftermrket top hose untill you make the switch to 440 engine .
