Onan 4.0 BFA not starting.

Just had a problem with Onan  4.0 BFA not starting. cranked fine but would not fire. Determined that no spark so put a jumper from starter solenoid to ignition coil and fired right up. Seemed to be a connection problem as relays both seemed to operate when jumpered.  Checked and rechecked all connections as best I could. Small access door to gen set on 79 Brave does not make this easy. Seemed to get readings everywhere I should except to ignition coil. Finally out of exasperation, I replaced the mounting screw for the ground wire from the centre terminal of the stop/start toggle switch on the gen set. Bingo!! Everything 100%. Check the obvious first, I used to tell my boys. Should take my own advice!!

Bad grounds make-up something like at least 75% of most electrical problems encountered with these old RVs.
