I started work on my 1988 Airstream 290 LE yesterday to get it ready for CA smog testing. When I pulled off my air filter housing there was an Edelbrock 1406 instead of a Quadrajet (ugh).

I'm now trying to track down a replacement Rochester Quadrajet - anyone know the correct OEM model for a 1988 CA-emissions P30?

I love Guaranteed Carbs, Got one from them for my 77 440-3.
Pretty much plug n play.  Ready to drive after install, no adjustments were needed.

I thought Edelbrock carbs were CARB legal? Don't know much about Cal. regs though. Hope I never have to deal with California on anything.

Check out the descriptions on JEGS or Summit.  They'll tell you if they are CA legal.  You can also call, or use the on-line chat on either site to ask.  Their tech support, from my experience, is very good.

Run it like it is. If it doesn't pass, then look at a different carb.  My P30 chassis with 454 passed with flying colors a couple weeks back.

It has the stock Quad carb that had sat for 7yrs and the filter was plugged just about shut.  Plus the rv didn't come with cats. I wonder if they were exempt.

They just ran it on the rollers and sniffed the exhaust. No inspection.

Growing up in Ca we would slip the tech a $50 and he would "wink, wink" make it pass.  That was in the 80's when the smog facilities were private.

Didn't start using Cats on MH chassis until 1990 when they converted to TBI.  Carb = no Cat
