For kits to install a Single Din stereo, I'd buy a head unit from Crutchfields. They usually come with a kit for free.

I'd look into what you want to listen to to decide which head unit.
You can get a receiver that plays DVD's and send the video thru a remote mounted TV... with the sound coming from your speakers. You can get one with built in GPS, you can get one that plays mp3's on CD's or thru a USB thumb drive, you can get one that has built in blue tooth to stream music directly from an Ipad, Iphone, or Ipod... Nowadays, there are many choices.
Also, be sure you know the type of speaker arrangement you are wanting. If running amps for each front & rear speaker channel, get one that has at least front & rear pre-amp outputs. If you want to add a sub woofer, you can also get one that has high pass and low pass filters, and a built in subwoofer pre-amp output.

A basic system would be a stereo running a pair of front speakers, and a pair of rear speakers, with no amps, and the speakers wired directly to the stereo's high impedance speaker leads.
An upgrade would be the same setup as above, but a 4 channel amp hooked up to the front & rear pre-amp outputs on the stereo, and the speakers wired to the amp's high impedance output leads.
An upgrade from that would be same as the above, with an additional mono or two channel amp hooked up to the stereo's sub woofer pre-amp outputs, the stereo's front & rear pre-amp outputs set to high pass, and a single sub wired to the sub amp in bridged mode, or two subs wired one to each channel.

The final upgrade would be to have one two channel amp for the front speakers, one two channel amp for the rear speakers, and a two channel or mono amp for the sub woofers.
I reserve the right to reject your reality and substitute my own...

I installed an am/fm/cd/dvd in ours this past fall. Motorized 7" tilt out screen with video outs to the big tv. Simple hookup using the old stereo's pigtail. I also upgraded the speakers to 6" Boston Acoustics.

I added a switch on the dash so we could select to power it either with the key on as normal or switch it to be powered by the coach batteries so when we're parked or at camp we could listen to tunes or watch a movie without the ignition key on or in accessory position.

If you have the shaft-style radio and need to cut the hole out for a standard DIN radio it might not just be plastic behind that. When I cut the hole out in my 84 Chevy Mallard it had thick steel behind it and took quite a while to do!

simple,

Buy your deck, buy atleast 100ft speaker wire even of you do not need it all.

Find power source wire.  Usually red,

take the ignition wire (Yellow) hook up to column accessory main wire or you can twist the ignition wire and the power wire from your deck and twist them together that way you can run your radio with the vehicle in the off position while your docking.

Need any deck info let me know.

I have hooked up multiple decks before in different vehicles.

I had to cut plastic and remove the steel plates from mine to install a single din stereo. The metal plates were riveted on so I only had to drill out the rivets. I used the stock wires since they went up in the walls and used new wires where they came out of the walls since the wires had been hacked to bits to rig the old stereo.

I have an 8 inch sub and an amp I was thinking of adding since it no longer is in a car, I'm not sure where I would mount it though.
