Picked up a mint used air conditioner from a wrecked trailer off craigslist today and I'm excited to get it installed!

Since tomorrow is Memorial Day the RV stores are closed.

Think I can get the right stuff to make a gasket from the hardware store?

Sure you can.  The gasket isn't made from some kind of high-tech, secret recipe, classified material - LOL!   :)

It's a dense foam which becomes water-tight when compressed.  But, get the good stuff and remember, you need to tighten down the roof AC so that the gasket isn't fully compressed.

Since I replaced mine, (standard, RV replacement gasket - $20, sticky on one side) I don't remember the thickness of it or what the compressed thickness should be though.

I also installed a trailer A/C in my winnie , I had to fabricate a interior assy . Due to the Winnie roof is approx 1 in thick and the trailer roof was 10 in thick due to A/C ductwork was all in the ceiling  worked out OK though Frank

When I had to replace the air conditioner on a LeSharo, I  used a generic Duck's brand gasket from walmart. The thing was a 1/4 inch or a little less, and costs like $6. It was harder to torque down then I figure the stock one would be, but it's come some seriously heavy rain and it still hasn't leaked.
