Fuel line leak - fix or replace ??

Hiya again .. .
recently found the source of the petrol smell while running, a tiny leak in a pipe attached to the chassis, directly behind the front wheel ,,,,

can see the pipe in the lower half of this picture, along with a good view of my rusty ol' 454 .. .

question is, the pipe seems to be a long one, im guessing all the way back to the tank ... can i chop out a section of pipe and replace it, or do i gotta swap the whole pipe length

You can do that...I would just cut it off and run rubber the rest of the way to fuel pump. The only issue I've had with this "type" of synario on metal fuel lines is not being able to get a good seal between the rubber hose and the "non" ferralled metal tubing. But that is not always the case, be sure to use two hose clamps.

Use a torch to cut the metal line....(just kidding)

Yep! I'd just us a pipe cutter and cut out a chunk a replace it with new rubber gas line with double hydrolic hose clamps.

Just remember that what ever you do make sure no filings or debris gets into the line. It WILL travel to the carb. If you plan to keep the rv for years to come I would "patch" that piece and use it for a few trips then get under there and see how much metal and rubber lines you have. Then make a plan to replace it all in the near future because it's like water pipes, one hole here then there and gas leaks make other issues  .  Atleast make the fuel lines metal until it's out of the heated areas from the motor and exhaust.

Agree with the others, cut the tubing off and slip as much 1/2" fuel hose over it as you can.  Use 2 or 3 good quality clamps.  It will be fine.

Parts are available, rubber hoses and filter, im gonna get the mechanic to do it when i get the oil filter and fan belt done, save me getting mucky lol

Took her for a ride down the local garage today, dragged a mech out to look, only to find there is now NO LEAK lol .. . im sure itll come back soon lol, but if it aint broke .....
